Pinot Grigio

Pinot Grigio wine grapes are grown primarily in Northeastern Italy. In other countries, the grape is called Pinot Gris, and it is grown in New Zealand, Australia, The Ukraine, Alsace, and two States in the USA (Oregon and California). These grapes normally have a pinkish gray hue, and can range from a true blue gray to a pink color.

The Pinot Grigio grapes grow the best in cool climates, and mature quickly while still having large stores of sugar. In fermentational terms, this can either lead to a sweeter wine (with more sugar left unfermented) or if the fermentational process is allowed to continue it can result in a very dry wine, because the amount of sugar gives the yeast farther to go. This fact makes the grapes very popular because of the many different wine styles you can achieve with them.

Wines made from the Pinot Grigio grape can vary in taste depending on the region in which it was made and the grapes were grown. Buyers should be sure to research the place a pinot grigio wine was made before deciding to keep the wine for aging. For example, Alsatian pinot grigio wines age well, while Italian wines tend to lose their acidity if kept too long.

You can buy a bottle of pinot grigio for anywhere from 6 to 65 GBP. With such a variety of different qualities and prices, it is worth trying a few different types of pinot grigio/gris before buying your wedding wine, and of course you can do this sale or return!
