Cinsault

Cinsault is a variety of grape that originated in the Languedoc-Roussillon area of France, and is used in the production of red wine. The grape has a great tolerance for heat, which is one of the main reasons the French brought the grape to their former colonies of Algeria and Morocco. The grape variety is cultivated around the world, not only in former French coloinies but also in Australia, Italy, South Africa, and the United States. The wine made from cinsault is commonly blended with wines from other grape varieties to add softness and bouquet. Lebanon’s most famous wine, Chateau Musar, is a blend of wines made from Cabernet Sauvignon,Carignan, Grenache, and Mourvèdre grapes in addition to wine from made from cinsault grapes. In addition to being heat resistant, the cinsault grape is drought resistant also. For this reason, cinsault grapes have large cultivations in Algeria, Morocco, and Australia in addition to Lebanon. Good wines made from the cinsault grape can be purchased in the United Kingdom for between 10 and 20 pounds, and would be a great wine for your wedding, and be sure to buy it on a sale or return basis!
