Italy

Rose wines from Italy are made solely from red grapes and are not allowed to be blended in any way with white grapes. The resulting color after the maceration process (the waiting period) can vary from very light pinkish hues to a deep ruby tone.

The production of rose wine in Italy is region-wide, although the central-southern part is the biggest production area. Northern areas of Italy produce delightful light rose wines, particularly that from the Lake of Garda.

Italy features hundreds of delightful brands of rose wine, however, one of the most famous of these is
Salento Five Roses Anniversario from Leone de Castris. This wine is produced with Malvasia di Lecce and Negroamaro grapes which give off a vibrant cherry color and produces a taste which is heavy for most rose wines while still being classified as light. Other famous brands come from the roses of Salento and Lagrein Kutzer.

The aforementioned Leone de Castris wine can be found online starting at around £9 a bottle. Other preferred Italian wines range from £10-£70 depending on how much you want to spend.  Make sure you get the best value for your money when buy your wedding wine, and make sure you buy it on a sale or return basis!
